Extra Space Storage is coming to Lafayette, LA with a climate-controlled self-storage facility coming to a former Sears space that’s attached to The Acadiana Mall. A car wash will also be added. Star Lafayette LLC, a Florida-based development company, bought the former Sears building for $1.5 million. The Sears space has been vacant since 2017. True Storage purchased an industrial property at 34 Forest Street in Attleborough, MA for $3.1 million (above). The building sits on 8.27 acres and offers 183,300 square feet of space. True Storage plans to re-develop the property into a self-storage facility. XSpace calls its storage units “condominiums” and is opening it at 4229 N. FM 620, in Austin, TX. An Australian group owns the facility and broke ground on it in 2020. Tenants can buy or lease their space, and not just rent it month-to-month. Metro East Mini Storage opened a newly built location at 5222 Chain of Rocks Road in Glen Carbon, IL, near its Edwardsville location as well as Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Kim and Keith Bridges own the site, which includes storage units as well as parking spaces for RVs. Source: The Intelligencer

U-Haul completed the development of 600 indoor climate-controlled self-storage units at its facility at 476 Amherst St. in Nashua, NH. U-Haul purchased the property in 2018. Overall, the 7.2-acre site includes a two-story, 76,000-square-foot building with a showroom, a warehouse for U-Box portable storage containers, a drive-in bay for hitch installation and more. Legislative

Opponents of a proposed three-story self-storage facility in Cumberland, RI turned out Sept. 28 to protest it at a Planning Board meeting. The board postponed a vote on a recommendation to the Town Council on a zone change amendment plus a master plan approval. Source: The Valley Breeze
