Remediation must be completed before developers RD Management and BF Orangetown LLC can build a facility at 5 Greenbush Road in Orangeburg, NY, behind Lowes on Route 303. The project will put up a two-story, 118,323-square-foot, self-storage, multi-tenant and flex-warehouse facility on 5.84 acres. The first floor will have about 64,000 square feet plus a 3,700-square-foot lobby. The second floor will have a 48,000-square-foot area for self-storage.

Variances and site plans were approved several years ago and first, an environmental cleanup, supervised by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has to get done, and a Certificate of Completion must be issued. The contamination is  there because it was the former home of Orangeburg Pipe. Remediation will take about 15 months. Source: Rockland County Business Journal

Planning commission approval for JT Inc.’s conditional zoning certificate and preliminary site plan means a new self-storage facility is planned on 7.6 acres at 8231 Bavaria Drive East in Macedonia, OH. The panel also said that JT Inc.’s proposed sales/servicing business for trailers on North Freeway Drive is a conditional use in a general industrial zoning district. Smart Self Storage would have six smaller and two larger buildings totaling 73,781 square feet and provide 450 units. In Connecticut, developer Solli Engineering LLC, on behalf of applicant BDS Holdings in White Plains, NY, submitted plans for a three-story, 99,300-square-foot facility at 2176 Berlin Turnpike on the Newington-Wethersfield town line. BDC Holdings has expressed interest in buying the property. The site has two parcels on roughly 11 acres, 7.6 of them in Wethersfield, south of the Route 175/Berlin Turnpike. The front portion and proposed entrance are in Newington. Development would include 10,000 square feet of outdoor storage. Source: Hartford Business

The Will County Board approved a self-storage facility on 32 acres of vacant farmland in Homer Township, IL. But the village of Homer Glen wants to keep the land in a planning area. Peter and Amy Katowicz want to open a second Illinois location in the 15300 block of 59th Street between Gougar and Cedar roads. It would have units to rent plus boat/RV storage space. Peter Katowicz said he plans to donate 10 acres in the back of his property to the Forest Preserve District of Will County, which abuts the proposed storage site. Homer Glen officials object because they would like to have input on developing the 159th street corridor. Source: Chicago Tribune

Ruby Holdings Ltd. has applied to build a two-building, 1,500-unit self-storage facility at 1000 Haverhill St. in Rolwey, MA. It gained original approval on Jan 21, 1999, but the buildings were never put up. Source: Ipswich Local News
