A four-story, 140,000-square-foot self-storage facility is coming to South Orange, NJ. Larry Weiss of Elite Realtors sold 311-317 Valley St. and adjoining properties along Lackawanna Place. Storage Platforms bought the five parcels and will put up the new building. The project also will provide additional park space next to the building along Founders Park. In Upstate New York, developer Vick Singh Ghotra has presented plans to the Village of Lewiston’s Historic Preservation Commission and Planning boards to renovate the Lewiston Event Center into a self-story facility with about 300 units inside the building at 845 Cayuga St. Ghotra is in acquisition talks with property owners Emery Simon and Harold Hibbard. The Planning and Zoning Commission approved a change in a Planned Development District at 445 Access Road to allow a three-story self-storage facility on Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton, CT. The new building and parking area will replace the current one-story warehouse building and paved areas. The facility also would be north of an existing Walmart. These developments don’t affect already approved site-development plans for adjacent property listed at 493 Bridgeport Ave, approved for a 25,000-square-foot retail facility. Source: Shelton Herald
U-Haul has requested a zoning change from a general commercial district to industrial commercial in Richmond, IN. The Richmond Area Plan Commission will consider the request on Sept. 28 for three parcels U-Haul owns adjacent to its location, 3150 National W. Home Star Storage opened a new storage facility at 3929 Summer Ave., Memphis, TN. It has 309 units over two floors and 30,800 square feet of leasable space. U-Haul plans to open a climate-controlled self-storage facility with 811 units in November that will be the biggest one in Santa Fe and the company’s second largest in New Mexico. It will be next to the new Rudy’s Country Store and Bar-B-Q. U-Haul Moving & Storage of Santa Fe at 7295 Cerrillos Road will also be U-Haul’s first company-owned moving and storage center in Santa Fe; the other U-Haul sites are contract operations. It will have 103,413 square feet, with 215 non-climate-controlled units in the basement; all other units are climate-controlled.
